Talking about oneself, using "I" is indeed despicable, but it is because so many fighters, and the staunchest of them, are reluctant to talk about themselves and to tell us of their great deeds, that we are at such great pains to constitute a collection, and therefore bring to the historian the testimonies, the elements that would be so precious for him in order to understand this period of the history of France during which we saw the Resistance against the German invader come into being.

Brignard François, our dear Doudou and his wife Yvonne are no stranger to this phobia of "I", it was not possible for us to get them to talk about, or write about their life, we have therefore been obliged to bypass their modesty and to search their personal archives, to retrieve from them the elements that constitute this volume, the reading of which will enable the reader to assess the courage of this couple united, in occupied France, who under the risk of all sorts of denouncements, will nonetheless continue their actions in support of the Resistance movement.

As for the historian, towards whom this testimony is more particularly directed, he will be able to put together other testimonies or documents in which appear characters going by the names of: Schaeffer, Imbert, Paulin, Grieu, Castaing, Rollmer, or have a better understanding of the activities of the network "Andalousie", of the Special Services in south West France, of the Chiron Brigade, of the "Franc-Pommies" group for which and in which the Brignards fought.

May the reading of those documents prompts our children to follow the example of Doudou and Yvonne, if God unwilling our country was to be again in such an unfortunate situation.
